Rockingham County authorities have arrested the driver of a pickup who backed through the doors of an Eden business and stole an assortment of lawn equipment.
Responding to an alarm at Eden Lawn Mower about 2:20 Thursday morning, officers found a Chevy Silverado had backed through the front doors. Two men loaded the truck with leaf blowers and chainsaws before fleeing.
A deputy on patrol spotted the truck on N.C. 14 and a chase ensued. The pursuit reached speeds of 100 mph before the truck pulled onto a dead end road in Caswell County, where the two abandoned the vehicle and ran into the woods.
Police are looking for 42-year-old Henry Tuggle, Jr. of Thomasville, N.C. He’s charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny. The items were recovered but the loss and damages were put at $12,000.
