Judge Joseph Milam has imposed the sentences recommended by a Danville jury for two brothers convicted of murder. Marteno Manuel Holmes and Jahiza Shamori Jones, both 24, were convicted earlier in the July shooting death of Solomon Louis Jones. Holmes received life plus 20 years for first-degree murder and firearms charges, while Jones received 34 years for his role in the homicide. Both were on probation at the time of the murder and were given additional time to serve for violating terms of their probation.
The victim had been in a relationship with the mother of the defendants. Testimony showed that Soloman Jones was walking on White Street on July 16 when the brothers approached in an SUV. Jahiza Jones was driving when Holmes shot the victim in the back, repeatedly.
