Douglas E. Cassell, Sr., 68, of Patrick Springs went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home. He was born on April 21, 1948 in Patrick County, the son of the late Claude Otis Cassell and the late Geneva Craig Cassell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Cassell and sister, Frances Chaney.
Douglas attended Goodwill Baptist Church. was a Sunday school teacher and helped with the bus ministry for over 30 years. He also was the music and choir director at the church and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in church.
Surviving his loving wife of 41 years, Susan Clark Cassell; two daughters and sons – in – law; Amanda Hill and husband, Dale, Pamela Bishop and husband, Freddy; one son and daughter – in – law Douglas Cassell, Jr. and wife, Angel. Also surviving ten grandchildren Allison and Dale Hill, Jr., Rebekah, Rachel, Jared, Faith Bishop, Seth, Haley, Christian and Sarah – Beth Cassell; five brothers, Claude, Coy, Jimmy, David and Donnie Cassell; three sisters, Virginia Dale Snow, Shirlene McCallister and Patricia Sowers.
The visitation will be Wednesday March 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Goodwill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday March 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Goodwill Baptist Church with Pastor David Bishop and Dr. David Towler officiating. Burial will follow in the Cassell family cemetery.
