According to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, on April 15th at approximately 12:45 pm the Martinsville/Henry County 911 Center received a call of a domestic disturbance at 19 Jessica Avenue, off of Flamingo Road in Bassett. Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded. When they got there they found Jeffery Wellington Newton on the porch of the home armed with a kitchen knife. He went into the house and refused to come back out. Deputies talked with him for four hours through an open window where the made threats to harm himself and the deputies. Eventually, Newton came out of the house where he was taken into custody and then to the Hospital for evaluation. An investigation in ongoing.
