City Council Pushing Through Budget Process

Martinsville City Council has decided to keep water, sewer, and utility rates where they are. Real estate taxes will go up 1.5 percent, the meals tax goes from 6.5 to 7 percent and cigarettes will go up another 10 cents per pack. Council is wrestling with a million dollar budget deficit. Adjusted figures have now reduced that number to $900,000.
