Jesse Earl Dalton

Jesse Earl Dalton, 75, of Hillcrest Park, Bassett, VA passed away on Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1938 in Bassett, VA to the late Jesse T. Dalton and Edna Martin Dalton.

Mr. Dalton served in the U. S. Army National Guard and was a graduate of National Business College. He was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, a long-time member of the Stanleytown Ruritan Club and a member of the Brotherhood Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts of America. He retired as an accountant from Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. with 43 years of service. Earl loved his grandchildren, enjoyed traveling and camping, helping with missions, assisting his son Jeff with his business, scouting and listening to Christian music.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara Eden Dalton of the home; son, Jeffrey Allen Dalton and wife, Kirsten of Annapolis, MD; daughter, Sharon Kay Dalton of Greensboro, NC and four grandchildren, Sean Patrick, Austin Nicholas, River Anne and William Tanner Dalton.

The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Ridgeway, VA with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday evening, November 21 from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home. The interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Africa Fund or to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Henry County Missions Fund, 18075 A. L. Philpott Highway, Ridgeway, VA 24148.
