Ms. Cynthia Yvette Hairston, age 46 of Martinsville, VA departed this earthly life on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at her home.
She was born in Roanoke, VA on January 18, 1967, to Colonel MacArthur Hairston and Jacqueline Bradley Hairston. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Emmanuel Gooden, Sr. and Margaret Bradley; and her paternal grandmother Mary Morris Hairston.
Cynthia was a 1985 graduate of George Washington Carver High School. She worked in the textile industry until her health declined. She was a member of Gospel Light United Holy Church in Axton, Virginia.
In addition to her parents Cynthia is survived by her daughters Kelly D. Gilbert of Blacksburg, VA and Kiara D. Hairston of the home; two brothers Anthony Hairston of Salem, VA and Vincent R. Welcome of Orlando, FL; two sisters Chere Martin(Jerome “Monkman”) of Martinsville, VA and Shawndredi Hairston of Winston Salem, NC; grandson Kameron Roberts of Blacksburg, VA; grandfather Cornel Pete Hairston, Bassett, VA; six nephews; a great niece; aunts, uncles, cousins, stepmother Shantina Hairston and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Ms. Cynthia Hairston will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 12:00 o’clock in the afternoon at Greater International Pentecostal Holiness Assembly Building on Carver Rd. in Martinsville, VA with Elder James Leath officiating. The family will receive friends half hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of her mother. Donations may be made at MDCU to Chere Martin in care of Cynthia Hairston Memorial Fund.
