PHCC Basketball Coach Dies in Auto Accident

Kenny Wade

Police are investigating a crash in Franklin County that resulted in the death of longtime PHCC men’s head basketball coach, Kenny Wade. The 45-year-old was in his 9th season and had over 100 career wins. He had just been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director. The explanation of the crash is odd. Police say it happened Wednesday night around 11:20 PM on Briarpatch Lane, two miles west of Route 724 when the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving developed a mechanical failure. Police have not said what the failure was, but that it caused Wade to run off the right side of the road and overturn. As he was climbing out of the upside-down vehicle, the vehicle shifted and trapped him. By the time rescue arrived Wade was dead.
